Ego Dog Ars Praefectus Registered: Although there is some suggestion the drive is repackaged sanyo, I have not checked my own drive. I’ll probably get Nero anyway or copy the version that came with my Creative before sending it back, hehe. So going back to the OEM drive Samsung is not possible. I will almost certainly be returning it soon, but I’d like the input of anyone who has used this particular CD-RW drive, especially anyone who has had similar problems.

So much for making mix cd’s for my friends.
Fri Dec 14, 6: I don’t think it makes a difference if it is master or slave, also does it skip at the same interval or is this at differnt times.
Will try the above link again, but I don’t think they have my drive listed. I’ll try the firmware and see what happens. Sat Dec 15, 3: I have the e and have not had any problems with it. Although there is some suggestion the drive is repackaged sanyo, I have not checked my own drive. I can always buy a new CDRW, yes, but I always though an 8x cd burn would be enough for backing up my tw8438e every few months, and making mix cd’s or whatever since I’d do it so rarely. I have firmware revision FC03; this doesn’t seem related in any way to previous firmware.
Creative CD-RW RW8438E using CD-RW12x says write protected.
I’ll post with results. Sold it last week though. Nov 14, Posts: I can just pick one for cheap next time I’m on “neweggg”.

Re: Creative CD-RW RWE
Agent Monkey – as far crdative the firmware goese on the E, it is hardware protected, and from what I’ve read, flashing it with the samsung sw only makes problems worse. Always just one skip, and always during the last seconds of the song.
Figuring this was just a win2k compatibility issue, I awaited XP thinking it would fix the problem i.
